The New York Gaming Commission has fined top Irish-based conditioner Aidan O’Brien $ 1500 after his assistant trainer T. J. Comerford was found to be in the possession of injectable electrolytes at Belmont Park, Daily Racing Form
ruling issued Sunday by the NYSGC read:” Mr. Aiden( sic) P. O’Brien is hereby fined $1500.00 for having 3 sealed 500 ml bottles of Duphaylyte( sic) Answer for injection, containing vitamins, amino acids, electrolytes and glucose under his care detention and control. This in violation of New York State Gaming Commission rule 9 NYCRR 4012.1( A )( 1 ).”
The rule cited proscribes anyone other than veterinarians to be in possession of any receptacle designed to be used with a hypodermic needle. According to DRF , no actual needles were found. Duphalyte Solution is not a banned or illegal substance.
O’Brien operated three horses on Belmont’s Stars and Stripes card Saturday: Homesman( War Front) and Whitecliffsofdover( War Front) were third and seventh respectively in the GI Belmont Derby Invitational S ., while Key To My Heart( Ire)( Galileo Ire ) was last of 11 in the GI Belmont Oaks Invitational S.
